The Selden Society–Australian Chapter and Supreme Court Library Queensland present the 2015 Lecture Series. The lectures are devoted to seven key English Judges, each drawn from a different era in the development of the modern law. The survey begins in the Tudor era, with Sir Edward Coke (1552-1634), and ends in the modern era, with Lord Bingham (1933-2010). Each may fairly be described as the most influential judicial figure of his era – with their writings and judgments continuing to provide a reliable font of principle for the guidance of modern courts and writers.

Current exhibition

Into the Light: Lawrence Daws and Queensland’s Legal Landscape profiles eminent artist, Lawrence Daws, whose mural now graces the Queen Elizabeth II Courts of Law.

This free exhibition runs until 16 October in the Sir Harry Gibbs Legal Heritage Centre, Queen Elizabeth II Courts of Law, 415 George Street, Brisbane. Opening hours are Monday to Friday from 8.30 am to 4.30 pm (closed weekends and public holidays).

In Freedom's Cause: the Queensland Legal Profession and the Great War – launching in November 2015, this exhibition and publication reflects on the personal stories and individual sacrifices of Queensland lawyers who enlisted in the Great War.
